Nelson Mandela tried to save his
people and his country South Africa from many discriminations and he fought for
freedom. He fought to separate from the white people who were in control.
Mandela was a political man. He was the first president in South Africa from
1994 to 1999. He was born on 18 July 1918 in Mvezo South Africa. He studied law
at the University of Fort Hare and the University of the Witwatersrand. After
that, he married a woman called Evelyn Mase. He married a total of three times.
And he had four children. Then, he worked as a lawyer in Johannesburg and he
was the first black lawyer in South Africa. Mandela is an incredible person
because he helped to bring an end to “apartheid” (In South Africa, system of segregation
/separate) and was a global advocate for human rights, and he tried to free
his society from any discriminations.
Nelson Mandela was arrested by the
police while he was in the protest or demonstration and they brought him to
jail. He had been in jail for 27 years from 1962 to 1993. But, in 1990, the
president F.W de Klerk released him. He went to prison because of “political
offenses” (a
political crime). While he had been in prison, he had written some new
letters and he wrote one letter for six months. At the time, people could not
visit more than one person where Nelson had been in prison. Visitors were
allowed, but only one person could visit at a time and for no more than 30
minutes, it was one time per year. Moreover, his letters showed how to be a
freedom fighter. The title was “The Prison Letters of
Nelson Mandela,”. After he was released from prison, he was elected as the
first president of democrat in South Africa. And at the time, he became the
first president of his country. South Africans loved him because he fought without
any violence to make free his people.
Mandela protested for the human right
and protested for revolution freedom from white people and discriminations. He
fought for justice to separate his people. In the 1950s, he became the leader
of the African National Congress (ANC). This group was devoted to stopping the
racial discrimination. Mandela fought black and white domination
because it was an injustice. Sadly, on March 21, 1960, the protesters were shot
and killed. This happened in Sapsvil in South Africa, according to (https://81708458.weebly.com/protests.html
). Mandela organizes the secret of military and he protested
peacefully. When the government came with the violence, he supported the armed
movement. Nelson protested peacefully because he had known how to protest and
the strategy of protest or demonstration.
Mandela
died after he suffer in hospital, on 5 December 2013 in South Africa. He died
when he was 95 years old. He died because of a lung infection and the undergo
surgery for the stomach ailment and respiratory infection. At the time, Jacob
Zuma announced on national television on 06 December 2013, according to ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Nelson_Mandela ).
And Jacob was the fourth president in South Africa. When he died, South
Africans felt lost a greatest person. Moreover, (“US President
Barack Obama spoke shortly afterward. "We've lost one of the most
influential, courageous and profoundly good human beings that any of us will
share time with on this earth," he said. "Through his fierce dignity
and unbending will to sacrifice his own freedom for the freedom of others,
Madiba transformed South Africa and moved all of us. His journey from a
prisoner to a president embodied the promise that human beings and countries
can change for the better."), (

were many presidents who started to speak about Mandela inspiring fight for
freedom, his work to works South Africa equal, and people safe. Now on his
birthday, almost all people always celebrate around the world, it called
(Mandela Day) and it is on July 18. Mandela has died but, people will not
forget his great stories.
In
summary, Mandela became active or energetic involvement in the apartheid movement.
Mandela improved the living standards of the colored community in his country
and he began to design the housing, education, and economic development. After
he became president, he was developing his country. While he had fought, he had
cherished the idea of a democratic and free society in which all people live
together in harmony and with equal opportunities in South Africa. Many people
say “he was a great fighter” because he was a political legacy of non-violence.
In my opinion, I appreciate Nelson Mandela because he fought for justice and
tried to free South Africans without any violence.
