Keep Getting Delayed for Freedom of West Papua Country | Ewawa Magazine

As West Papuan resident I really know with what is going on in my country about fighting of freedom since 1961 till now even though I born in Millennial generation I learned from the books, sharing from Free West Papua activists and on online about history of Colonialism in West Papua Country. The huge issue is heavier Human Right Violence all over the West Papua territory, but Indonesian Government never handled it seriously and let it happen like that. Wired thing is Indonesian Government never judge the person who involved in that specific violence. There are several factors why the violence will not end from West Papua Country.

First of all, ethnocentrism is big problem that we must end up and we stand together to fight our right to separate from Indonesian Colonialism. If we keep this issue in our struggling, we will not free from Colonialism in short period of time. For example, is ULMWP, if we choice who is our family or brother that who does not have any experience in leadership, organization or other aspects, it will delay our struggling 10 or 20 more years. We have to see his capacities as leader that he can lead our struggling it to the referendum of West Papua or not. If we choose the leader without see his abilities because of he is our family or brother, our struggling will be collapse because he does not have leadership skill. As West Papuan student I recommend that please choose the guy who can lead our struggling to the referendum under the ULMWP without ethnocentrism.

 Second, there are two groups of people live in West Papua. These group are Pro-Freedom of West Papua and Pro-Indonesia. They have different aim; the Pro-Freedom group is fighting for their right to self-determination and separate from Indonesia because of the heavier Human Right Violence Since 1960 until now ongoing that never end so that is why they are struggling for separate from Indonesia. The pro-Indonesia group aim is to keep West Papua territory under the Indonesia control because they know that there are a lot of the natural resources in West Papua. This group is Indonesian Government created intentionally to block West Papuans activists and against when they tell aspiration on the street through demonstrate and they never respect indigenous peoples’ spiration. Our aspirations just disappeared and Indonesian Government never respond about our aspiration and disrespect our right by Indonesian Government, but we respect Indonesian people but we against is the Indonesian system in land of West Papua.

Next, people think that they are fighting just for fun or looking only for famous name which mean call him you are fighting for Free West Papua or leader of Free West Papua actually he didn’t fight with his deepest heart, and he want to be next leader again even though his term of office has expired. This kind of leader is not supposed to be leader because he does not really fight for freedom of West Papua. I suggest we must choose the right person for our leader to get an independent as soon as possible.

On other hand, if we want to fighter for our own land, we need to have good education such as go to laws school, learn leadership skill, learn communication skill and other things that is going to be helpful for our struggle. Whoever wants to fight for Referendum of West Papua, have to be smart in every aspect because our enemy are smarter than us in all sectors such as block our strategies to convincing other country. That is why we have to mature in knowledge to defeat enemy.

Last, Referendum of West Papua will be keep getting delayed if people of West Papua or all leaders will not unite under the umbrella ULMWP to fight together because wherever it is struggling to free from a country need united. United is a strong key to defeat enemy.

Conclusion, people of West Papua need to avoid negative things that make our struggling extinguish and all the leader need teamwork to bring this West Papua issue to United Nation or Convincing other Countries. As Student of West Papua, I suggestion that choose the right leader who is will unite all organizations that fighting for freedom of West Papua.

Nelson Mandela tried to save his people and his country South Africa from many discriminations and he fought for freedom. He fought to separate from the white people who were in control. Mandela was a political man. He was the first president in South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was born on 18 July 1918 in Mvezo South Africa. He studied law at the University of Fort Hare and the University of the Witwatersrand. After that, he married a woman called Evelyn Mase. He married a total of three times. And he had four children.
